Beep is a small, sturdy robot, made of colourful plastic, with a wobbly head and hands and a round, weighted body-in all about 8 inches high. Controlled by a robust remote handset with two large buttons-each of which makes a wacky noise when pressed-he can spin around and go forward. Designed for slightly younger children than are most toys of the robot/remote control variety, he is appropriately well designed to have no sharp edges, nor any bits that are easy to pull off, and with simple controls. Our five-year-old tester soon invented ways to breathe new life into this cute little toy-he had it pushing boxes, hiding and jumping out at unwary passers-by and dressed up in strange outfits. The fact that it is remote controlled means that children under about three years of age might find it a little hard to understand this toy.
